On a recent visit to Boulder Colorado, I stumbled across a fantastic store Rebecca’s Herbal Apothecary. I bought a spritzer which is a mixture of essential oils. This particular blend was made from100% Natural Ingredients: Spring Water, Organic Australian Sandalwood Essential Oil, Organic Lemon Essential Oil, Organic Lavender Essential Oil, Organic Geranium Essential Oil and Marjoram Essential Oil. It has just run out and I am gutted. I’ll be sure to buy more next time I’m back in Boulder but I decided to try to make my own.

One of my favorite ways to use aromatherapy has always been in diffuser which can change the mood in a room in minutes. Spritzers are mixtures of essential oils and distilled water. They are very economical since you need just a few drops of essential oil per bottle of spritzer.

You can vary the concentration (i.e. the number of drops of essential oil) based on what you’re trying to achieve.  For example, if you want a facial spray, be sure and keep the concentration low, at around 5-6 drops per 100 ml small bottle.  For body sprays, that amount can be increased to 15-30 drops, and for room sprays, you can go even higher.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Small spritzer 100ml bottles available in many pharmacies.
Distilled water
Carrier oil such as coconut oil to disperse the essential oils and prolong the fragrance.
